Our North American native Butterfly Milkweed, Asclepias tuberosa, with beautiful red-orange flowers is known to attract essential pollinators. Milkweed is an important larval food source for monarch butterflies and a nectar source for bees.
This shrub-like perennial is easy to grow from seed and reaches about 24- 36 inches high with about a 24" spread; grows in zones 3-9. Has very good drought tolerance once established.
