Red clover, Trifolium pratense, is a short-lived perennial that is often used for hay, pasture and soil improvement. Quick and easy to grow. Drought tolerant. Thrives in a wide range of soils. Evergreen in temperate climates. Tolerates shade and low winter temperatures. Produces high quality forage.

Red clover provides an important source of nectar to native bumble bees, which are known to be better pollinators of red clover than honey bees. The non-native honey bee, with a shorter proboscis, can not reach the nectar in the long flowers of red clover, so they will go to other flowers if available.

Graze or cut for hay when the red clover is ¼ to ½ in bloom. A second cutting or successive grazings should occur when red clover is ¼ in bloom. Leave
at least 2 inches of growth after each harvest. Red clover does not lose much palatability as it matures. Does not trample down easily. Stockpiles well. Seed is raw/not coated.

Features & Benefits: high quality forage, weed suppressing, nitrogen fixing, supplements soil, easy to grow
